This is Swedish quality product developed especially for conditions in the Nordic countries. Mercasol anti-corrosion agents are tested and approved by the Swedish National Testing and Research Institute. In Sweden we organise Authorised anti-rust stations where skilled and experienced personnel work in accordance with the Mercasol method using professional equipment and specially devised spray schedules for each particular car model. Outside Sweden our distributors represent us. Geveko Industri AB also sells anti-corrosion products in consumer packs. These are sold in spraycans, 1-litre bottles and also in 5-litre cans. The range consists of both thin and thick anti-corrosion products, underbody compound and stonechip protection.<BR> <BR> <B>• Your car rosts.</B><BR> <BR> Cars rust despite anti-corrosion guarantees.<BR> <BR> During 2000-2001 the Swedish Corrosion Institute examined and analysed today's cars with regard to damage by rust. The results show that cars rust despite anti-corrosion guarantees.<BR> <BR> The object of the survey was to judge and compare the corrosion protection of various car models after four and seven years of use. <BR> <BR> <STRONG><I>- The most dangerous rust is not visible.</I></STRONG><BR> <BR> A unique inspection technique was used in which pieces of the rocker panel, hood, door, boot lid and rear wing was sawn out from crashed cars. Crevice surfaces in spot-welded joints and sheet folds were inspected. Car rust often starts in such crevices and can be difficult to detect from the outside. The method indicates that damage by rust can be detected at an early stage before it becomes visible from the outside.<BR> <BR> <STRONG><I>- Considerable difference bet ween various makes.</I></STRONG><BR> <BR> The inspections indicate considerable differences between various makes of cars. Some models can cope with seven years use without appreciable corrosion while other models can be severely damaged after four years.<BR> <BR> <STRONG><I>- Poor anti-corrosion at the car factory.</I></STRONG><BR> <BR> Galvanized sheet is used for parts or for the entire car body in most cars. There is however considerable difference in the quality of the galvanized items. The results show that zinc coating that is all too thin gives no appreciable protection.<BR> <BR> Most carmakers apply anti-corrosion medium in the car factory. Rust protection in the form of wax or oil forces its way into and protects spot-welded joints and other crevices in cavities. PVC or bitumen is applied as wear protection on the understructure. The results show that most makes of cars have inadequate anti-corrosion treatment from the car factory. Compared with an earlier examination it can even be stated that some carmakers have altogether stopped anti-corrosion treatment of cavities.<BR> <BR> <STRONG><I> Swedish Corrosion Institute's recommandation.</I></STRONG><BR> <BR> It is difficult to give general recommendations with regard to anti-corrosion treatment because the initial treatment can vary considerably between different makes of cars. According to the Swedish Corrosion Institute any recommendations should be in actual relation to the anti-corrosion treatment of the car made at the factory. For the makes of cars that are most severely subjected to rust (see table above) complementary anti-corrosion treatment should be carried out as soon as possible.
